Sunlight works by rotating locations throughout the year to visit climbing venues during their peak seasons. We spend the ice season (Dec-Mar) in New England and Colorado, rock season (Apr-May & Sep-Nov) in Colorado and Utah, and the summer alpine season (Jun-Aug) in Washington. Whatever you're climbing interests are, each of these locations have plenty to offer.
Vermont
In Vermont, we run ice climbing trips in Smugglers' Notch, Bolton Valley, Lake Willoughby and Bristol Cliffs. Vermont is still considered a hidden gem of the ice climbing scene in New England. If you want to get into big scale terrain with fewer crowds and tons of ice, check out what Vermont has to offer.
New Hampshire
Considered by many to be the epicenter of ice climbing in New England, New Hampshire boasts classic ice routes with reputations that span beyond the tight knit New England community. Home to the alpine environments of Mount Washington, Crawford Notch and Cannon Cliff, there is loads of ice to climb here.
New York
On the West side of Lake Champlain sits the expansive Adirondack State Park. This park is massive to say the least, and the quantity and quality of ice climbs that are packed in throughout the winding valleys are exceptional. The quiet, quaint town of Keene acts as a launching point to many of the classic routes in the region.
Western Colorado
In Western Colorado, you can find yourself ice climbing and skiing in the mountains, and after a short drive be in the arid desert climate climbing rock and riding mountain bikes. Geologic and ecological diversity are what make Western Colorado such an incredible playground. Join us here in the San Juans and Grand Junction area for ice, rock, alpine climbing and backcountry skiing.
Southeast Utah
Home to two of the most visited and incredible National Parks in the US (arches, canyonlands), the sea of red rocks holds more than enough rock climbing to entertain for a lifetime. Moab--our central operating zone--is home to a significant number of outdoor enthusiasts and with good reason. Come climb some desert cracks, red stone towers, and discover the canyons around Moab!
Washington
